Skylar was not used to wearing makeup but definitely wanted to look extra special on her wedding day. She opted for airbrush foundation, which I love for brides. It gives such a flawless finish and lasts all day.

 I warmed up her completion with Benefit's Hula bronzed and MAC Melba blush. I did some slight contouring to give her face some dimension and she just wanted a very subtle eye.  She asked for browns and pinks. What a great choice for a bride; soft feminine and romatic.

I also did her hair with. 1 1/2 inch curling iron (I used it like a curling wand) and curled away from the face. After the curls had time to set I just lightly combed through to soften and blend the curls.

Trial run and Bridals:Melanie

Melanie wanted a soft smoky eye, focusing on the lip. We decided on a berry color which we thought was perfect to bring out the colors in her head piece. For her hair she wanted a loose low side bun with some pieces left out around her face. I think she looks beautiful and she loved it too!

Wedding day: Kayde- Airbrushed beauty...

So we have already done the trial run and the Bridals and finally Kayde's big day arrived! Kayde decided to go with airbrush foundation for the big day and it really came out beautifully. Both of us loved the final result!

My little visit to Good Things Utah

So a fellow makeup artist and friend of mine, Bobbie, has been invited several times to go on to our local morning news program, Good Things Utah. She does small segments where she gives makeup tips and tricks. This time she invited me to go on with her and be a model for her eyebrow segment.

Bree | What a difference a brow makes

Hello! Thanks for stopping by.

 This is Bree and she had a family photo shoot that she wanted a mini makeover for. Bree has trouble with her brows not growing towards the center, well that's nothing a little Anastasia Brow Wiz can't fix.

As you can see, eyebrows can change the entire look of someones face. Bree was brave enough to let me make this drastic change. Eyebrows are one of the hardest things for clients to give up control on because it is so face changing. But now she is converted to a fuller and more proportioned brow and these are some of the tips I gave her to duplicate it at home:

When drawing in brows, draw an imaginary line from your tear duct up, this is where your brow should start. Use a very light hand and softly draw short lines upwards, using a "flicking"motion. This will simulate the appearance of small hairs. Be soft with it and take your time, its a lot harder to take pencil off than to put pencil on. 

If you feel more comfortable, buy a brow stencil and use an eye shadow on an angled brush to fill your brows in, it gives a softer look. Then work your way up to drawing them in freehand.

Mari

So this is Mari. She's not only stunning but also my best friend in the whole world. She had a special date and wanted to look a little glamorous...but not unlike herself. She gave me freedom to do what I wanted to this is what I came up with.

Avon Ideal Flawless foundation in Medium Beige with  Sigma Flat Top Kabuki Brush (must have)

MAC Pro Longwear concealer

Benefit Hula bronzer

BH Cosmetics blush palette

Makeup Forever HD Powder to set everything

Eyes: 

smashbox full exposure palette this palette is great because it can be used with almost any skin tone and it comes with an instruction guide on how to apply eye makeup to any eye shape. They even provided a youtube video on how to determine what your eye shape is.

 

I used M2 and M3 in the crease to add some depth. Then went in with M1  in the outer third of Mari's eye for more drama. For the lid I used a mixture of S2 and S3 and for the brow bone I used S3. Blend blend blend. 

For the waterline I used Jordana's 12 hr eye shadow pencil in Continuous Almond.  This opens up the eye and makes it look a bit bigger.

lips:

discontinued Avon lipstck :( 

...but a fun and affordable substitute is Maybelline Brazen Berry, if the color is too intense for you add a pink gloss over the top to tone it down. 

She's beautiful and I love her!
